![]() NSKA also offers a teen program, which focuses on students between the ages of 13-18. This program is a transition period for students who are coming from the children's program, or for new young students to work on their skills before joining the adult classes. In the teen class, there is strong focus on both team-building and the concept of unity among these teens. NSKA strives to foster an environment where teens can define themselves as individuals and also have a place where they can always feel comfortable being themselves. There are two important concepts in the Teen Program. The first and foremost is character building. NSKA realizes that today's teenagers face many challenges, and may need guidance on issues such as peer pressure, grades, college selection, school, and jobs just to name a few. Throughout the classes, Mr. Stone engages students in an open and honest discussion on different issues, and how to resolve them while remaining true to themselves when facing challenging decisions. The second part of this program focuses on the technical application of Uechi-Ryu. Mr. Stone works with the students on deepening their understanding of the methodology behind what we do as martial artists, and how the body works as one united force in what we practice. |
